the new museum

The week after Thanksgiving I took the boys to the new Perot science museum that was just opening. We started off by pretending to go camping. The boys were cooking eggs.

Then camping out

Zev said that his alarm was ringing!

So he rushed out of his tent to eat some more.

Tahl is always ready to eat, pretend or not.

Yum.

Here is Tahli catching up with a long lost friend.

Zev did not build that, he only destroyed it.

Tahl went back and forth over this bridge 50 times.

Zev was busy playing in the baby area.  The baby area at the old museum was much more fun than this one.

Zev did like this place to hide though.

We moved on to my favorite part.  There was a cityscape playground with a fun block moving system.

Here is Zev moving the blocks.  This was definitely more fun though because the museum was in previews and there was hardly anyone there.  This might be less fun with too many kids. That is actually true of the whole museum.  The kids area is not that big, and it might be a little overwhelming if the museum was full.

Tahl really liked this section too.

And back to work.

Tahl was moving the blocks when they got to the top.

Then we had to take them up again.

All to build this... Zev and I were a little irritated that they didn't have the right shape blocks out to match the pictures they put on the wall.

Zev found hats and sent them up too.

Tahl just knocked my towers down over and over again.

Tahl's favorite thing was sending the blocks back down.

Zev was trying to teach him how to match the right shapes.

Looking at his reflection

There is a place to make patterns out of flowers.

Then we realized there was a water table. The guys were there for a long time.

They really love to pour and dump.

Tahl was getting the water everywhere.

Zev also really liked the canal.  It was fun to shut the doors and watch the water fill up and go down in a different spot.

Next we went to the farmer's market.

These guys like to grocery shop like their dad.

I don't think they were using coupons though.

I had to make Zev scoot over, but Tahl did get a turn to drive.

"Beep! Beep"

The last ting we did was go to the arts and crafts area.

Zev insisted his crown have only black leaves.

Yes, I am a mother who took a picture of Tahl eating a glue stick before I took it away from him.  It's non-toxic right?

Before we could go, we wanted to ride up the escalators.  They take you all the way to the top of the building, and you can ride one that is actually encased in glass and sort of hanging on the outside of the building.
Next time, we want to take our stroller so we can explore more of the museum.
