Hanukkah (Preparing at school + Night 1 and 2)

Zev has been getting ready for Hanukkah all week at school!

Here he is painting the bottom of a menorah craft.

The next day when it was dry, he cut out candles for the menorah also.

He glued them on, and here he is lighting them up with glitter.

He's not being stingy with that glitter either.

Practicing spinning the dreidel.

Here he is practing again on another day. It looks like he got it.

Now he is making us a special present.

The class is making a menorah out of sticks and branches they found outside.

I think this might be too many candles...

After this week of getting ready for Hanukkah at school, Zev was really excited to light the candles on the first night.

Tahl was still finishing his milk from the restaurant.

I got a little wink here.

We are using the menorah that Grandma Mimi gave to the boys.

They have lots of presents ready to open!

There is a pile for Zev and a pile for Tahl.

On the first night, Zev planned to open the biggest present.  It turned out that it was a LeapPad from his Buby and Buster.  He LOVES it.

When he first opened it, he thought it was just markers because it came as a Crayola LeapPad creativity set.

Here is Tahl (with cat and schmata) opening his present from Buby and Buster.

It was a backpack like one of Zev's.

He wanted to put it on right away.

He looks so old (and yet so young with his special things...)

He wore it until we made him take it off to put on his pajamas.

Zev also got to open the charger and case for the LeapPad, so he thought he was pretty special opening three presents.

On the second night of Hanukkah, Ari and I opened a present Zev made for us at school. He was so excited to give us this menorah, and he kept reminding us to be careful because it was breakable.

I saw the pictures of his classmates' menorahs online, and Zev's was definitely the best. Half of their bolts weren't even in a line. Sometimes an eye for detail pays off.

This was how his teachers had it wrapped.  How cute is this?

Here are the guys lighting the candles on Zev's new menorah.

 Zev was very proud.

The boys both opened matching pairs of fire man boots.  Zev needed the next size up, and we thought Tahl might like to have some to match Zev.

He was concentrating really hard on unwrapping this.

Zev was really excited about the boots, especially because they came with an umbrella.

Tahl looks excited too.

Tahli and cat...
Happy Hanukkah!

We will have more pictures to post up the upcoming nights throughout the week!
