Halloween

For Halloween we had Zev's best friend, his little sister and her best friend, and their moms over to eat pizza and trick or treat. Tahl has become good friends with both of the little girls pictured, so he was really excited.

These were our best dinner pictures.

I made my kids pose for one good picture before they could go out to trick or treat.  Tahl is obsessed with all things fantasy, but especially "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them" by J.K. Rowling currently.  We decided it was a perfect way for the kids to each get to be what they want in a theme.

Here we have Tahl as a werewolf, Maya the unicorn, Zev the dragon, and Isaac the niffler.

Here is Zev with his best friend who went as Sherlock Holmes.

Here is Tahl with two of his good friends the fox and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas.

It was drizzling which was good because it was supposed to be raining really hard.

The kids had such a great time together.

I think this is hilarious just to see Zev's umbrella that everyone else had to duck under to get back out.

I love this niffler.  He was really in character trying to take all the shiny things.  He even told everyone what he was when they thought he was a platypus.  (Or a disco platypus like his Uncle Oren...)

Close up of the scary dragon

A good shot of the werewolf who was so sweaty under that mask.

Our little unicorn mostly snuggled with her daddy.

She had some fun when we got home though.

I made Isaac stop sharing his necklaces right *after* I took this picture.

After everyone got on their Halloween pjs, Tahl and Isaac fed Maya her bottle. They really love to talk to, snuggle, feed, babysit, or really do anything with their little sister.

We had a great Halloween.  Isaac started talking about costume ideas for next year within minutes of being home.

More October pictures...

Zev believes this is his coolest outfit and he looks like a "rapper."  That's all I have to say about that.

Here I am with my friend Ann Marie.  This was one of the three times I went block walking for Colin  Allred for congress.  Spoiler alert, but he beat Pete Sessions (a 22 year incumbent.)  We are so happy for him (and our district.) Both of our state representatives also went blue!

It was a warm weekend, so we also took the kids to the park.

Mays is not so sure yet about swinging.

Isaac on the other hand is very sure about riding on this slide.

He is the cutest.

He is also still excellent at going down the pole.

These guys were really excited that I climbed to the top of this tall climbing structure with them.

Tahl had the cutest second grade performance.

Here is his singing. He wasn't feeling well that day, but he really pulled through and did a great job.

Part of his hula hoop dance.

Here is Isaac at his last soccer game of the season with his team.

We carved some pumpkins.  Isaac and I did the one with all the shapes.

This is Tahl's pumpkin that was actually carved up by a werewolf. 😂

This is a picture of Dixie I took when she was freaking out about a storm.  I couldn't get her out of my laundry basket.

And of course, another picture of sweet Maya getting messy with baby food! Yum.

Day Pilkey

This past weekend my mom and I took the boys to see one of their favorite authors, Dav Pilkey.

He writes Captain Underpants and Dogman series.  As you can see, the boys just can't get enough.  They were so excited to get a signed copy of his newest book.

The event was really fun, and they gave the kids capes that said "reading gives you super powers."

He speech was fantastic.  He talked about how as a child he had ADHD and dyslexia.  He was funny while still making the kids realize that being different doesn't have to hold you back.

My favorite part was watching him draw the characters right in front of us.

Zev waited in a very long line to get his face painted.

He got some underwear and a cape.

Tahl was not quite as patient, but he snuck in with Zev and ended up with Petey (one of the Dogman characters).

Zev got a picture with Captain Underpants!

The boys waited to get balloons twice, so they each had a sword and a scepter.

They had a good time fighting each other while we waited to meet Dav Pilkey.  We were numbers 1076 and 1078.

They each got to shake his hand.  Tahl told him that he writes funny books.  Zev told him that he was his favorite author.

Zev said he was never going to wash his hand again.

It was a really fun experience and I thought half price books did a great job.

On the way out, the boys had to stop to pose with Dogman's hat and Captain Underpant's namesake.

When we got home, Isaac got in on the action and got right into his undies.  Tahl reads him Dogman and Captain Underpants books while they snuggle in bed, so Isaac was a little jealous to miss the big day, but he was happy we brought him home some souvenirs.
