Ari and Amy go to D.C.

Ari and I went without kids last weekend to Washington D.C.  My parents babysat the kids, and we had so much fun.

We went to see the Capitol which was sadly being refurbished, but it was still great to visit inside.

Supreme Court

We got to sit in the room while it was draped for Scalia.

We took lots of pictures at the Smithsonian to show the boys what we had seen.

Zev was jealous that he didn't get to see Aldrin's space suit in person.

We went to the Air and Space on our first day where we saw the Wright brothers plane and lots of other amazing stuff.

It was very cold, but we still went to see some monuments.

The reflecting pool was empty, so maybe we will get a better view of that next trip.

We saw the Lincoln Memorial.

Then we walked by the White House on the way home.

I got to Facetime with Isaac who was missing me at home.

Zev was found asleep in the bathtub where he must have stayed up late doing some serious "sneak reading."

The next morning we did the Capitol tour, and then saw the Library of Congress.

We got some pictures from my dad of the boys at the park with him.

Meanwhile, we took the train out to Arlington Cemetery.  We got to see the Kennedy's grave site.

We got to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Then we took a long walk over to see the Marine Monument.

My grandpa was marine, so I really wanted to make it to this one.

That afternoon we went to the Natural Museum of History.

We got a lot of pictures there that we knew Z and T would want to see.

Tahl really wants to go to this museum now to see the mummies and the do do bird skeleton.

The next morning we went to the Ford's Theater Museum. We got to see the gun that shot Lincoln,

the theater,

and even the bed where he died.

That afternoon we went to the American History Museum which I really enjoyed.

Then as our last site, we went to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

It was a really nice space.

Oh, and we stopped by the White House one more time for a selfie on the way back to the hotel.
Then we flew back first class (thanks to my dad!)  We had a great trip, and the kids keep talking about how much fun they had with Pops and Gram.  Thanks again guys!  We love you.
