Day 2: Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands National Park

For our second day of the trip we started off at Dead Horse Point State Park.  The view was absolutely amazing.

Here we all are right in front of the Colorado River.

After taking in the first amazing view we drove to Canyonlands National Park.  Our first stop was the Mesa Arch which was fantastic.

Through the arch you can see the most fantastic view.

This picture of Zev shows it off a little better. Karen and Gregg actually have this shot framed (minus Zev) in a large print in their home.

Isaac found a spot to take a rest.

Maya slept through this amazing view.

I love this picture of Tahl just looking off at the view.

Here he wanted to pose with his Canyonlands National Park junior ranger book.

This is Upheaval Dome. Experts think maybe a meteor hit here to make this giant crater.

Here are the boys being sworn in as junior rangers.

This is just a shot from the car of our drive from Moab to Vernal.  I think here we are about in Dinosaur, Colorado.

Day 1: Arches National Park

We flew up to Utah a few days earlier than normal for Thanksgiving.  Ari and I planned to take the kids to see two national parks and a national monument.  We started our first full day in Arches National Park.

Here is Isaac getting a little life from his dad.

Zev, Maya, and I.  It started off pretty cold in the morning.

Here are Zev and Tahl with some petroglyphs that were only a few hundred years old.

The boys each said that this challenging hike was their favorite of the weekend.

There were a few spots we had to hold their hands for safety.

They didn't always agree that it was necessary.

After about an hour or so we made it up to Delicate Arch.

Here we are underneath it.  It was really beautiful.

This is the view from inside of it.

A picture on the way back down.

This is what Maya did most of the time.

The next arch we went to was Sand Dune Arch.

Here are the boys under it.

They had so much fun climbing on the rocks.

Here is Isaac as Simba being held up by Rafiki.

Zev climbed way up high.

Isaac and Tahl had fun staying behind to play in the sand.

Who doesn't love a good sand angel.

Here is Tahl at Balanced Rock.

Tahl is the little blue speck here.

This was the a fantastic place for panorama mode.

Just riding a train.

This arch is one of two arches called the window.

That tiny person on the far right is me.

The boys and I thought the Double Arch was amazing.

Ari, Isaac, and Maya were tired, so they stayed in the car.

Here is Tahl relaxing while he waited for Zev and I to catch up.

The boys climbed right up to the very high edge of this one.  Ari would have died, and even I was nervous and holding on to them.

I don't think you can tell, but Zev had just made the very difficult climb back down from above where we were looking out.

This was the last big rock they were playing on of the day.

They really loved this park because it was so interactive to them.
